Nomex is a very tough material. Meant to withstand the extreme heat, making it an ideal shoe for firefighters. It is made of a particular type of fibre which provides good protection against the ignition and its after effects, even in above extreme temperatures. As in the case with most other sim-racing setups, the Nomex hood has a purpose for regulating body temperature which could reduce heat-related illnesses. The hood allows firefighters to do their job without getting as hot.
Firefighters will get second degree burns without a Nomex hood. They often need significant medical care and sometimes, they might even permanently disable a firefighter from working. Furthermore, the hot risks even do more heat-related illnesses and imminent death with just a SINGLE NOMEX HOOD PROTECTION. So, giving a hood to people who wear them isn't just about keeping them safe; it's about saving lives.
The Nomex hood serves as a barrier between the firefighters and this fierce heat. The fabric is engineered to withstand extreme heat for a short period of time and serve as a barrier between the flames and firefighter. This barrier serves as a shield against that radiant heat and stops it from getting through the hood to the skin underneath. Since iy protects the face and head, firefighters are able to defend against the worst effects of the extreme heat.
